'Let's Do Business!' Master Class for vocational Business Students

What is the course about?

This exciting master class will be competitive but fun! Students will learn about entrepreneurship and PEST (political, environmental, socio-cultural & technological), Porter's Five Forces and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis and then split into teams to apply these business strategies to a practical issue.

Each team will think of an idea for a new business, create a business plan for it and then produce posters to try and convince others to invest in that business. Each 'business' will then be judged by a panel of (judges who are all) real life management consultants, venture capitalists and business strategy experts. They will decide how to invest their 'money' (not real!) and the business with the most investment wins!!

The programme for the day, which is run at City University's Cass Business School, will look like this:
 • Lecture - part one - Entrepreneurship, PEST, Porter's Five Forces, SWOT
 • Break/refreshments
 • Lecture - part two - Brainstorm ideas for new businesses
