What is the course about?

Day 1 - University Life

This day focuses on life as a student at University. You will meet current students and participate in a number of activities that are supposed to be fun as well as informative! The day will include:
 • A tour of the university.
 • How to choose your course and university.
 • Student Finance.
 • Insight into what it's like to be a student


Day 2 - Project day

This day will be run in the Computing Department at London Metropolitan University and this will give students a taste of what it is like to study Computing/IT based courses at university. Students will meet academic staff and find out about the range of courses open to them in Higher Education once they have completed their college courses. They will also participate in a range of academic activities including:
 • A lecture.
 • A workshop developing themes in the lecture leading to debate / discussion / presentation.
 • Outline of how this academic work would be developed on a degree course.
 • Project work that is started at the university day but that can be taken away and continued with at college.

There will also be the opportunity to talk to current and/or ex students about their experiences and what work they are doing or planning to do.

When is it? 9 and 10 March 2005, 10am - 4:30pm
Who can do it? Vocational students on year one of advanced level courses in Business and Leisure and Tourism
How many place are there? There are 40 places
Where does it take place? London Metropolitan University, 166-220 Holloway Road, London N7 8DB
How much does it cost? Nothing! The course is free and travel is paid for.
How do I apply? Fill in an application form available from your tutor or Aimhigher Coordinator, or download one from www.hefeinterface.org.uk. Then send it off to the postal address or email address on the form.
Deadline for applications is Friday 25 February
What happens next? We will write to you to tell you if you have a place and where you should go.
